New Orleans homes sit on pier-and-beam foundations or slabs that can shift with the seasons. Humidity swings are 40-80% year-round. If you install flooring without accounting for these conditions, boards buckle, tiles crack, and seams open. We moisture-test every subfloor before install, use manufacturer-spec expansion gaps for Gulf Coast humidity, and recommend waterproof LVP for ground-floor rooms where flooding risk exists. It's not generic flooring — it's NOLA flooring.

Waterproof vinyl plank (LVP). Around $3-5/sqft for materials plus $5/sqft for install. It's waterproof, won't buckle from humidity, and can handle the occasional pet accident or plumbing leak. For ground-floor rooms in flood zones, it's the clear choice.
Sometimes. The existing tile must be firmly bonded, level, and structurally sound. We can use a tile-over-tile membrane or anti-fracture membrane. If the existing tile is cracked, loose, or the floor is uneven, we recommend full removal first.
We move reasonable loads — beds, couches, dressers, dining tables. Very heavy items (pianos, 500+ lb safes) or fragile/valuable items (antiques, electronics) are your responsibility to move or have a specialty mover handle.
Vinyl plank: immediately. Laminate: immediately. Tile: 24 hours for the thinset, 48 hours before full use and sealing the grout.
We do hardwood repairs (board swaps, staircase nosing, damaged plank replacement). We don't do full solid hardwood installs or refinishing — those require specialized equipment we refer out for.
